Our Green Credentials

 

            We try to do our bit for the Planet and we have several initiatives under way:-

 

            Although we can still provide you with a plastic bag for your purchases, we are asking that you think whether it is actually needed. 

Our disposable bags are bio-degradeable and our thicker polythene bags can be re-used many times.

            There is an ink cartridge re-cycling box in the entrance lobby, the proceeds of which go to the Dogs Trust. 

Please bring in used inkjet or laser printer cartridges and unwanted mobile phones.

We have installed a cardboard re-cycling skip at the back of the shop and to our amazement we are having to empty it once a fortnight – that’s nearly 4 cubic metres a week which was previously going to land fill.

            You may not have noticed our heating system, but it is a state of the art heat exchange warm air system which removes heat from the atmosphere, compresses it and pumps it into the shop – actually the reverse of  global warming.

Wormers

We have had a few customers getting very upset with our staff 
because we are unable to sell wormers unless Janette is on the premises. 
New EEC regulations (which we have to abide by) state that wormers can only be 
sold by a registered Suitably Qualified Person; Janette in our case. When she is not available, wormers cannot be sold. 
So please check in advance that she will be present by ringing the shop before you come. 
This is a badly thought out piece of legislation, with which we do not agree but contravening it can lead to 
prosecution under Dangerous Drugs Legislation.
